Location: Merivale, ChristchurchWe have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and detail-oriented Simulation Technician to join our team at Nurse Maude in a permanent, full-time role. You will be part of a highly specialised simulation assessment centre purpose-built to support regulatory examinations.This is a technically hands-on role that is central to the safe, accurate and consistent delivery of simulation-based assessments. You will be working in a high-stakes environment, where maintaining strict protocols, ensuring equipment reliability, and coordinating assessment delivery are of critical importance.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Simulation Technician, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the OSCE Centre, including:
- Coordinating exam flow and managing audio-visual systems to ensure accurate recording and exam integrity
- Consistently setting up OSCE stations to required standards for all examination sessions
- Providing technical support for simulation equipment, including calibration, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Adhering to scheduled maintenance programs and ensuring all simulation resources are functioning correctly
- Conducting inventory and asset management to ensure operational readiness
- Troubleshooting IT and AV issues, including configuring and maintaining hardware/software used in assessments
- Managing data and providing recordings and reports as requested by the Nursing Council
- Liaising with external providers to resolve complex technical problems as needed
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support exam delivery and candidate experience
- Contributing to operational support tasks, such as restocking, cleaning, pack-down and room preparation
- Supporting other operational roles as needed (e.g. invigilation, administration, simulated patient)
- 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare or related technical/operational field
- An interest in healthcare simulation
- A strong commitment to protocols, standards and confidentiality
- An above-average IT skillset, including familiarity with networking, device configuration and software support
- Proven ability to quickly learn and operate new systems and applications

- The ability to work both independently and within a close-knit team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High levels of adaptability, flexibility and a readiness to meet changing operational demands
- A willingness to participate in ongoing training and development
- Experience with simulation-based technologies (manikins, Centre management software, etc.)
- Experience in the healthcare sector or familiarity with medical terminology or equipment
- Audio-visual system knowledge and experience
- A tertiary qualification in health, information technology, or a related field
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and on-the-job learning
