IT Works is a Lower Hutt based managed service provider dedicated to providing exceptional customer service, technical expertise, and building long-term client relationships. At IT Works we believe we are "small enough to know our clients but large enough to service their every need."We are looking to hire an Field Service Engineer to join our growing team. You will play a critical role in delivering on-site and remote technical support to clients including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and the repair of IT systems and infrastructure. We are looking for someone capable of ensuring our clients receive timely service delivery, proactive communication, and technical excellence.Responsibilities include:
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware (servers, desktops, laptops, networking equipment).
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware/software/network issues both remotely and on-site
  • Perform routine maintenance and system health checks, ensure systems are patched, secure, and compliant with IT Works' cybersecurity standards.
  • Support cloud services, backup systems, and endpoint protection tools.
  • Educate clients on system usage, security practices, and maintenance routines.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with clients regarding service status and resolutions.
  • Maintain accurate service records, asset inventories, client documentation and the internal knowledge base
  • Collaborate with sales and account managers to support client growth by identifying upsell opportunities (e.g., hardware upgrades, managed services)
  • Assist with monthly client reporting and internal service metrics.
Our ideal candidate will be well-presented, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a strong focus on customer service excellence. The ability to be flexible, multi task, and remain calm under pressure are key character traits required for this roleWhat we are looking for:Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure, Google Workspace).
  • Proficiency with remote support tools and ticketing systems.
Experience & QualificationsA minimum of 2 years' experience in a relevant role with at least one year's experience working in a role with a Managed Service provider.Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Cisco) preferred.Valid NZ driver's license and clean driving record with the flexibility to travel to clients out of the Wellington regionAbility to demonstrate hands-on technical expertise and in-depth knowledge across various IT domains.IT Works has been a trusted advisor to our clients since 2008, work with cutting-edge technologies to enable them to grow their businesses.
