Te Whiwhinga Mahi - Our opportunityWe're looking for a solicitor to join our newly created Tenancy Operations Legal team within the Legal and Risk Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your legal career while contributing to the wellbeing of New Zealanders by supporting tenancy services across Kāinga Ora's 75,000-home portfolio.In this role, you'll provide legal advice on a variety of issues, including the Residential Tenancies Act, the Health and Safety at Work Act, Privacy Act, and broader regulatory obligations. You'll also help advise on queries and disputes, support internal teams, and contribute to building a system of legally sound and consistent decision-making.We are seeking someone who is solutions-focused, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and capable of providing practical, plain-language advice. You'll collaborate closely with colleagues across the organisation and play a role in training and supporting operational teams. Prior experience in tenancy, public law, or administrative law would be an advantage, but we welcome applicants from diverse legal backgrounds with strong foundational skills.Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bringA New Zealand practising certificate (or eligibility to hold one)
