This is your opportunity to join one of Australia's most iconic food manufacturers. Their operations span both branded FMCG and bulk ingredients, and you'll be joining the dairy bulk ingredients and nutritionals business unit.
Please note: This role is based in Victoria, Australia. Candidates applying from New Zealand must be willing to relocate. Relocation support and immigration assistance will be provided for the successful candidate.About the Role: Technical Manager – Proteins
This is a key technical position responsible for enhancing and developing value-added protein products, optimising dairy processing technologies, and providing expert support across multiple manufacturing sites. Based in Victoria, Australia this role offers the chance to work with a hugely successful and play a pivotal role in strategic product development.Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development, trial, and implementation of process and product improvements.
- Providing subject matter expertise in membrane technology, whey processing, and wet separation.
- Supporting production sites across with technical problem-solving and process optimisation.
- Overseeing trial work, reporting, and documentation for R&D.
- Engaging with customers and stakeholders across operations, marketing, and quality functions.
As the preferred candidate, you will be experienced and hands-on in the dairy industry, with knowledge of whey processing, membrane technologies, and dairy protein development. You're confident working across all levels of an organisation - from plant operators to executive leadership - and bring a practical, solutions-focused mindset to your work.Key qualifications and experience required:
- A degree or diploma in Dairy Technology, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of factory-based experience in dairy manufacturing.
- Dairy processing and packaging experience.
- Strong understanding of whey processing, caseinates, and membrane/evaporation technologies.
- Proven success in project management and technical problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
