About usThe Southern Charity Hospital Trust was established in 2019 following Blair Vining's highly publicised battle with terminal bowel cancer. To people throughout Aotearoa, Blair was an extraordinary man: a man who turned his own tragedy into a battle to ensure better cancer care for his community.One of the greatest legacies created is nearing completion, it will provide free services to those in the southern half of New Zealand (Southland and Otago) who are unable to access care through the public or private health systemsAbout the roleAn exciting opportunity exists for an experienced, passionate, and committed Clinical Nurse Manager to support the General Manager in all aspects of clinical care at the hospital. This role will work in partnership with the General Manager to deliver on Blair Vining's mission of better care for all New Zealander's.Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Overseeing the delivery of all services to ensure that the organisation complies with all applicable legislation and meets high quality standards of patient care.
  • Seeking opportunities to introduce new initiatives that will improve outcomes for patients in the Southern community.
  • Encouraging innovation and practice initiatives that enhance clinical care or service provision
  • Utilises professional nursing knowledge and skills to provide holistic approach to nursing care that is safe, of the highest quality possible, and in accordance with Registered Nurse Scope of Practice; Nursing Council of NZ Registered Nurse Competencies; and Nursing Council Code of Conduct
  • Responsible for receiving, triaging, and appropriately managing all clinical referrals in collaboration with the General Manager.
About YouTo be successful in this role you will have the passion and drive to go the extra mile. You will also be able to demonstrate:
  • 5 years post graduate clinical practice with experience in Surgical or Perioperative nursing.
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Knowledge of quality improvement processes and principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications on healthcare
