From our state-of-the-art R&D lab on Auckland’s waterfront, our diverse, world-class team is pushing the limits of microfluidics, photonics, biology, and software engineering.Now, we’re looking for an experienced Software Manager to lead our growing development team.The RoleAs Software Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding Engender’s software direction. You’ll lead, mentor, and support a talented development team while overseeing the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of scalable, high-quality software solutions. Working closely with product owners, scientists, and engineers, you’ll ensure our software underpins our breakthrough technology and aligns with Engender’s ambitious goals.What You'll Do

Lead and develop a high-performing software team, fostering collaboration and innovation.

Oversee the planning, design, and delivery of robust, maintainable software solutions.

Drive adoption of best practices, coding standards, and agile methodologies.

Mentor and grow technical talent within the team.

Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical work with business priorities.

Monitor progress, manage risks, and proactively resolve issues.

Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies.

About You

Proven experience leading software development teams in dynamic environments.

Strong technical background across multiple programming languages and frameworks.

Excellent knowledge of Agile/Scrum and modern software development practices.

Skilled communicator with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience mentoring and developing software engineers.

Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and version control tools (e.g., Git).
