Kia mahi ngātahi mō Pōneke mō tōna āpōpō - Working together for Wellington's futurePōneke is on a journey of transformational change, responding to many of the challenges cities around the world are facing, while delivering an inclusive, sustainable, and creative capital for people to live, work and play.Our Connected Communities team help shape a safer, more inclusive Pōneke and we're looking for a collaborative, community-minded individual to help lead the daily administrative operations of our Central City Safety Hub enabling our services and partners to be a visible, trusted presence in the heart of Pōneke.As the City Safety Coordinator (formally titled Safety Hub Coordinator), you'll ensure the smooth administrative operations of the Safety Hub while actively building partnerships that enhance city safety. You'll work closely with frontline services and community partners, including Police, Māori Wardens, Community Patrols, social service agencies, and Council teams to coordinate presence, facilitate collaboration, and identify new opportunities to strengthen safety outcomes.You'll be the go-to person for managing the space, responding to public concerns, engaging with businesses and residents, and referring people to the right supports. You'll also take the lead in supporting joint training initiatives and making sure the Hub is used effectively to drive collective impact.This is a newly established role and we're looking for someone who can hit the ground running and has the drive and initiative to lead the way in streamlining and enhancing our processes.If you're passionate about making a real impact and want to help bring the City Safety and Wellbeing Plan to life, then we want to hear from you!Āu ake mahi - What you'll do:

Managing day-to-day operations of the Safety Hub, including bookings and health and safety compliance
Helping to build trust, safety, and shared responsibility in the city centre
Acting as a visible and approachable point of contact for the public, local businesses, and stakeholders
Strengthening and supporting coordination of the Urban Liaison Team, Police beat Team, community patrols and Māori Wardens
Coordinating and supporting partner agency activity within the Hub
Identifying and initiating opportunities for collaboration, joint training, and safety initiatives across partner organisations
Facilitating referrals to appropriate services where needed, maintaining strong relationships with health, housing, and social providers
Facilitating referrals to appropriate social or health services where needed
Supporting data collection and reporting, contributing to continuous improvement and impact measurement

Ngā tohu me ngā wheako - Qualifications and experienceYou will have the following:

At least three years' experience in a public-facing coordination, community engagement, or safety-related role
Experience engaging with community groups or volunteer experience in the community.
Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage with diverse communities.
Calm under pressure, with good judgement and the ability to navigate sensitive situations.
A collaborative approach and experience working across multiple agencies or community groups.
Familiarity with local safety and wellbeing issues, and an understanding of referral networks.
Digital literacy and comfort using reporting or scheduling tools.
A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and cultural competence in working with Māori and other communities.
