As we continue to evolve in a rapidly changing environment , the role of our Corporate Affairs team is more important than ever.Te Tūranga | The role:This is a challenging and interesting role for a senior external communications manager with reputation management experience and a track record of success in high-profile, complex organisations.Working with the Head of External Communication, the Corporate Affairs team, and leaders across our business, you will play an integral role in protecting and enhancing ASB's reputation.The right person for this role will have a strong instinct for potential and emerging risks and work with the business to manage them appropriately. You'll be proactive about sniffing out a story and developing creative ways to shape and share these, with media and on social.This is a fast-paced role and there are plenty of interesting opportunities to further develop your skills. From managing our external presence during a crisis, amplifying ASB's sponsorships, launching new products, supporting our senior leaders and more, there's scope to make this role your own.Ngā mea kia whai angitū ahau? | What do I need to be successful?
  • We are looking for someone experienced across external communication disciplines and has worked in large, complex organisations.
  • It's a role that will see you identifying external opportunities and making recommendations on communication strategies to create positive outcomes, while mitigating risk.
  • We are looking for someone with energy and intellectual curiosity, working under pressure to meet deadlines and respond to media queries is something you are comfortable with.
  • You will have a sixth sense about reputation risk, be highly attuned to and experienced at recognising reputation threats, and skilled at finding ways to mitigate them.
  • You'll need a measured and professional approach and be comfortable working with and advising senior stakeholders.
  • Someone who is interested in finding the 'why' and gets excited by the prospect of turning problems into opportunities.
  • Keen to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation and with media.
