We ensure every member of our team has the opportunity to develop, grow and stay inspired.Health New Zealand-Te Whatu Ora, Te Tai Tokerau is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and holds stewardship for equitable health outcomes for Māori as Tāngata Whenua as the highest priority.About the roleThe purpose of this position is to provide a specialist social assessment and planned social work intervention within the allocated area of responsibility within the Surgical & ICU Services at Whangarei Hospital.Be part of a dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team that effectively uses social work processes to ensure quality health social work is provided to Health New Zealand-Te Whatu Ora, Te Tai Tokerau clients/families/whanau; whilst maintaining professional practice standards.Te Whatu Ora is one of the largest employers for Social Work in Aotearoa. Health Social Work is a key component in the multidisciplinary team in supporting whanau through their health journey.Relationship building, advocacy and coordination skills are essential. The work is complex, challenging, varied and rewarding.This role is a permanent 0.9 FTE position, working 36 hours per week.Key requirements
  • Current registration with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board
  • Recognised tertiary qualification in Social Work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with Maori
  • Experience working with complexity and diversity with a focus on equitable outcomes
