- Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and comprehensiveness.
- Prepare work to be estimated by gathering construction documents, specifications, and related documents
- Identify and assemble the required bid package documents in advance of bid due date
- Develop accurate estimates and schedules utilizing available tools, industry and estimating best practices
- Produce accurate and comprehensive estimates for large or complex projects or programmes
- Produce / manage complex / large estimates with limited management or supervision
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, contractors, and suppliers. Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Measurement and Valuation: Conduct accurate measurements and valuations of work completed on-site. Prepare and submit interim and final payment applications.
- Cost Control and Reporting: Monitor project costs and expenditures, identifying and addressing any variances. Provide regular financial reports and forecasts to project managers and stakeholders.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize financial and contractual risks.
- Procurement: Manage the procurement process, including sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors. Ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure project objectives are met within budget and on schedule.
- Compliance: Ensure all work complies with relevant legal, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years New Zealand experience in estimation and tendering for the civil construction industry
- Experience with the estimation and tendering of large civil projects in New Zealand.
- Knowledge of civil construction contracts, cost estimation, and financial management.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation with the civils/ building industry.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel)
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team onsite in Auckland CBD.
