There really is only one question: What impact do YOU want to make?As our Privacy & Data Protection Manager, you will join Deloitte New Zealand's Data Risk team, a key pillar of our broader Risk Management Team. This team plays a crucial role in implementing and managing Deloitte's data protection framework, safeguarding sensitive information throughout the data lifecycle, and ensuring compliance with regulatory, legal, and operational requirements.In this role, you will collaborate with the existing team to enhance our current programme, while delivering advanced capabilities to tackle emerging data risks in an ever-evolving landscape.Job DescriptionAs part of the Privacy and Data Protection Team, you will contribute to a variety of impactful projects across the business. Your core responsibilities will include:
  • Manage key component of our Data Protection Programme, including Privacy Impact Assessments and Data Risk Assessments and Confidential Information Management Plans.
  • Provide privacy and confidentiality consultations across diverse projects, while functioning as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders (e.g., Business Units, IT Security, Legal), and external stakeholders, including Deloitte Global and Asia Pacific key contacts, to deliver data solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data incidents, privacy queries and governance implementation for emerging technologies such as Generative AI Tools.
  • Review, optimise, and simplify processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, while drafting policies to strengthen data governance and lifecycle management.
QualificationsSkills and Attributes for Success:
  • 5+ years working in data protection and privacy, ideally within enterprise risk and compliance, professional services, or information lifecycle / governance roles.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables with competing priorities.
  • Strong relationship-building and people skills, combined with a mature and flexible approach to managing stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Ideal Skills and Attributes (Nice-to-Have):You don't need to tick every box - we value your enthusiasm, potential, and genuine drive to grow and learn.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Power BI to design robust dashboards and deliver actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft 365 suite, including Excel, SharePoint, and PowerApps (canvas and model-driven apps).
  • Knowledge of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) strategies and tools that monitor, detect, and prevent unauthorised handling of sensitive data.
  • Practical exposure to high-pressure environment where adaptability and teamwork are key.
