Since 1998, we have provided peer-led support, advocacy, training, and consultancy, guided by hope, personal power, and connection. We support people facing mental health and addiction challenges to take charge of their recovery and wellbeing. Our work includes de-stigmatising mental distress, reducing marginalisation, fostering social inclusion, and delivering mental health education in workplaces, schools, and organisations-supporting people move forward and reach their full potential.He kōrero mō te tūranga | The RolePeer Services has a contract with Whakarongorau and we are looking for an awesome, well-rounded Peer Support Workers to provide a peer support phone response to the national 1737 mental health and addictions helpline.We have one fixed term position available until Tuesday 30 June 2026, this position is 34 hours a week. The shifts are rostered Monday to Sunday 1.45 pm - 10.15 pm (some work outside these hours may be required).Since this role is working from home, you can be based anywhere in New Zealand.He kōrero mōu | About YouWe are looking for people who have personal lived experience and want to use their recovery journey to help support and inspire others.You will have a proven ability to work effectively with peers from differing cultures, especially Māori and Pasifika. Importantly, you will need to be able to work independently and take active responsibility for monitoring and maintaining mental health.If you bring along the following, we would love to hear from you:
  • New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Peer Support) Level 4
  • Experience supporting others via phone lines
  • 1+ years' experience working in the industry
  • Have active listening and good communication skills, be positive, and encouraging with a good sense of humor
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be adaptable
