As a MIST member, you will assist our ambulance crews and communities in a variety of ways depending on the situation. You might be helping to lift a patient, setting up at a music festival or providing support during anything from a local emergency to a national disaster. Whether it's a planned event or an unexpected crisis, you will be part of the essential support crew working behind the scenes to keep ambulance operations running smoothly and making a real difference in your community.Responsibilities - As a MIST member your key tasks may include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintaining operational readiness of all MIST vehicles and equipment
  • Safely relocating and operating support, command or specialist vehicles
  • Responding to major incidents and events to undertake roles such as logistics, welfare, communications, safety or team leader
Training commencing November 2025- All new MIST members complete an initial foundation course, which includes an induction to HHSJ, operational risk management principles and driving training. This ensures you are well-prepared to operate vehicles and equipment confidently and safely in emergency environments.Please note you must live within 20 minutes drive of the Pukekohe Station.QualificationsKo wai koe - About you:To thrive in this role, you'll need to:
  • Hold a current, full, and clean New Zealand Class 1 Driver's Licence
  • Hold a Level 2 First Aid Certificate-or be willing to obtain one as part of onboarding
  • Attend at least one training session per month to maintain operational readiness
  • Be ready to deploy within 30 minutes of activation (when availability has been indicated)
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Maintain a good level of physical fitness
  • Be at least 18 years of age
