As a MIST member, you will assist our ambulance crews and communities in a variety of ways depending on the situation. You might be helping to lift a patient, setting up at a music festival or providing support during anything from a local emergency to a national disaster. Whether it's a planned event or an unexpected crisis, you will be part of the essential support crew working behind the scenes to keep ambulance operations running smoothly and making a real difference in your community.Responsibilities - As a MIST member your key tasks may include, but are not limited to:

Maintaining operational readiness of all MIST vehicles and equipment
Safely relocating and operating support, command or specialist vehicles
Responding to major incidents and events to undertake roles such as logistics, welfare, communications, safety or team leader

Training commencing November 2025- All new MIST members complete an initial foundation course, which includes an induction to HHSJ, operational risk management principles and driving training. This ensures you are well-prepared to operate vehicles and equipment confidently and safely in emergency environments.Please note you must live within 20 minutes drive of the Mount Wellington Station.QualificationsKo wai koe - About you:To thrive in this role, you'll need to:

Hold a current, full, and clean New Zealand Class 1 Driver's Licence
Hold a Level 2 First Aid Certificate-or be willing to obtain one as part of onboarding
Attend at least one training session per month to maintain operational readiness
Be ready to deploy within 30 minutes of activation (when availability has been indicated)
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Demonstrate strong communication skills and a keen eye for detail
Maintain a good level of physical fitness
Be at least 18 years of age
