About the RoleBabcock is seeking a proactive and commercially minded Procurement Specialist to join our Fixed High Frequency Radio Refresh (FHFRR) program-an initiative delivering critical upgrades to New Zealand's Defence Force communications infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant program that supports secure, resilient defence operations.In this role, you'll lead strategic procurement activities, manage supplier relationships, and drive sourcing strategies that align with Babcock's operational goals. You'll play a key role in contract negotiations, RFQ/RFI/RFT processes, and supplier performance management-ensuring every engagement delivers value, compliance, and innovation.Alongside procurement, you'll oversee inventory management across multiple warehousing facilities, ensuring optimal stock levels and accuracy through regular audits and reconciliations. You'll collaborate with operational teams to forecast inventory needs, manage slow-moving and obsolete items, and support efficient receiving, storage, and issuance processes.This is your chance to join a high-performing team, shape supply chain outcomes in a dynamic defence environment, and grow your career with a company committed to creating a safe and secure world.To be successful, you will bring:
  • Legally entitled to work in New Zealand and capable of obtaining a New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) Security Clearance.
  • Proven commercial acumen and negotiator, with thorough understanding of category management, supply chain mechanisms and risk assessment.
  • Proven supply base management and strategic sourcing skills in a highly complex and regulated environment.
  • Technical, procurement or commercial knowledge of assets, goods and services applicable to maintenance, repairs or overhauls of equipment.
  • Experience with inventory management systems and practices.
  • Experience with Defence-specific inventory management requirements and regulations.
